Just after 1030 on New Years morning the PVFD along with Perry Point VA and Susquehanna Hose Co. were alerted for a building fire on Broad street. Units arrived to find a 3 story duplex with heavy smoke showing from the structure. Residents and police on scene advised of a working basement fire on the right side of the structure. First arriving E1112 pulled a handline and advanced into the residence. T6 arriving immediately behind E1112 went to work with opening up the first floor and and trying to locate the basement access. Other crews on arrival were ordered to the first and second floor to open up and locate fire in the walls being an older balloon construction house. Crews operated on the scene for approx 4 hours before clearing. Chief 6  (Ryan) held the Broad Street Command.
